Ok so when I bought my first Mosin I thought it was just a cool hex. I have recently found out it is a dragoon. It has way more markings than a reg hex and the length matches a dragoon just thought I would share my good news.

More correctly its an updated dragoon, i.e a dragoon that's been updated to 91/30 specs. In its original form it had a curved rear sight, barleycorn front sight, and a different type of handguard.

Yeah. I also learned that dragoons have a finger rest behind the trigger guard.

AFAIK, only the M91 had the finger rest, and even then only for the first couple of years. So if yours is dated after 1893, it wouldn't have had one anyway even if had started life as a M91.
