found at my dad's house is an old revolver marked on the top at 'LATEST MODEL S&W', barrel slightly shorter than 4 inches, no other marking on the gun. grips say "KofL" and there is a 4 digit serial number on the frame under the grips (grips had to come off to find) off 1162.
I know this is a fake/clone of a smith and wesson, but i can not find any further info on this, looks like a break top smith but is solid framed. it is DA/SA with a unique hammer, not a normal one but is raised on the top to allow SA. i know nothing about this and just trying to get all the info i can, but google is not be friend in this case

any help/leads will be much appreciated.

(no camera to take pics either...sorry)

i take it from the lack of posts i am not alone in my complete lack of info on this particular revolver. I just want to be able to put a date on it, or know what KofL stands for. leaving it open to any thoughts.
