Hello all I need some help on a project of mine. I’m trying to combine the old with the new on a “tactical” shotgun. The first thing I would like to do is switch out the sights. Does anyone know if these sights are the same rifle sights as the newer guns and if standard sights will fit? The gun is a 1972 870 wing master. Thanks in advance

    .
I don’t know, and I may make you upset, right from the start:

Does it have a flex tab shell lifter (aka: “police”)?

For my money, that is the FIRST thing to modify and bring to current standard from the older lifters.

Newer rifle sights are different than what you have and can't be retrofitted, it would probably be easier to find a new barrel.

If you want to get rid of that old barrel I can help. Pm me

lots of sighting upgrades for shotguns of all types what are you attempting to accomplish?

call brownells and look at the Williams ghost ring fire sights. I think the last ones I installed were 25 bucks and worked well.
    Second choice illumination style paint.
third choice tap the receiver and go with any style sight you fancy.

if that barrel patterns well and is the length you like then sure you can take it off and put any barrel on you would like. Your money your project.

everyone wants the tactical option. This old fart says the one upgrade pump gun wise I would consider would be a win model 12 with the good old slam fire option.

Old duck hunter in me loves the win model 12 because the hand can wrap around it about anywhere to carry it.

The One we have is 16 gauge and was created in 1937. Other than two firing pins over those 84 years it still works as advertised

I love the rifle sights on a shotgun, if it were me I'd keep it as is....that being said, is the barrel rifled, or smoothbore, rifled, yeah I'd find another barrel, smoothbore.....choot it!
