I was reading some online shooting reviews of a sig p290. In a few of the reviews they stated they were firing P+ ammo. The P290's I have seen and the owners manual don't say that it is a P+ gun. I looked at Sigs site and didn't see anything to indicate that it is rated for P+. Am I missing something or were the guys in the reviews using the wrong ammo?

I'd say as long as you're not out plinking with +P ammo daily, you'll be just peachy. Sig's are some beastly guns. Now, if you asked about a carbon steel model, like the P228...that's a little different story.

You're right. The manual doesn't say that +p is allowed.

    What DOES it say, however?

It says, in section 3.0, on page 15:

"Use only high-quality, original, factory-manufactured ammunition."

"The use of reloaded, “remanufactured” hand-loaded, or other nonstandard
    ammunition voids all warranties."

And, finally, "Always use ammunition that complies with the industry performance
standards established by the Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers’
Institute, Inc. (SAAMI) of the United States or ammunition manufactured to
    military specifications."

You do realize that "+p", in the 9x19 cartridge, is defined by SAAMI...right?

+p is not a "non-standard" ammunition. +p+ IS a non-standard ammunition and would, therefore, void all warranties should anything go wrong.
