Well, I FINALLY got my '74 out to the range. We got there and got set up, and I went to shoot the rifle. I take the first shot, it fires, bolt cycles in battery just fine, and I went to release the trigger for the next shot. The trigger... doesn't reset.

Odd. I've never had this problem off of any SA rifle I've ever had.

So, I unloaded and cleared, took the dust cover off and started to troubleshoot. I cycled the rifle a few times to check. Every time the trigger wasn't depressed, it reset just fine. It only DIDN'T re-set when I had it depressed. In my mind and in my experience... it's supposed to.

    Any ideas anyone?

I agree. The issue is disconnector related. On another note, it should be s.o.p. after purchasing ANY AK from ANY assembler to fully break down the action, clean and inspect all parts, and reassemble. Every AK I have ever purchased has cosmolene and grit in the spring tube, inside the firing pin chamber, and generally in nooks a crannies all inside the gun. The firing pin is particularly important as it must be free floating so as not to get stuck in the forward position. If that occurs you could set off additional rounds other than the one you intended.

One of the Waffen Werks 74's I recently purchased was missing the pin that held in the firing pin inside the bolt. That could have sucked at the range, but didn't as I was already cleaning and inspecting everything. (Waffen Werks immediately mailed me one at no charge!)

AKs are crazy reliable and awesome. Sadly, they cannot be assumed to be until the proper cleaning and checks have occurred.
