After a long delay, I'm now getting in gear for a possible relocation to Indiana.

I've decided that I'd like to be within about 30 miles of Ft. Wayne, this decision being dictated mainly by a concern to be within easy drive of good health care and also good social opportunities.
Housing in Ft. Wayne itself is a tad beyond my upper budget limit of $75,000. So I'm looking out as far as Waterloo, Auburn, Columbia City, Huntington, Decatur, possibly Kendallville, even far western Ohio if there are major advantages to that state.

Another of my highest priorities is to be within a reasonable drive of at least one easily accessible and inexpensive shooting range. I do rifle, handgun, clays and blackpowder, but am not a specialist in any one of those fields. Probably I shoot informal rifle more than anything else.

Does anyone have comments as to what towns or areas might be best from the standpoint of available ranges? I've seen the map and sticky here about shooting ranges - that's helpful, but I might have missed a few within the area of interest.

Any input will be appreciated. Thanks.

Warsaw has a great range where all of that could be easily done and Fort Wayne is not that far away. I think the good health care would be available in Warsaw.

The range in Harlan (north east of FW I think) has plenty of shooting opportunities.

I wish I could add to the shooting ranges aspects of this - but when I'm up in the Decatur area, I have access to shoot on private property so I've not had to seek out ranges (public or clubs).

There is a public Indiana DNR range at Roush Lake. Should be easy enough to Google.

Another town to think about: Bluffton, IN.

Property taxes in OH will be higher than they are in IN - but gas taxes and vehicle registration excise taxes in IN are higher - so it's probably a wash in the end.

Be sure you study the flooding maps very very carefully before buying any property in IN. Lots of the areas in IN you've mentioned have a high flood risk. Especially in the Decatur/Bluffton area. https://www.msc.fema.gov/portal

Thanks, Coach and TF. Yes, I want to avoid low areas, floods or not. Noticed bad flooding in Bluffton recently. Was hoping the NE corner of IN might be safer in that regard.
