A friend of mine got this e-mail and forwarded it to me.
I thought it important to share with all.

Remington has determined that one specific lot code of the 100 round box of 38 Special+P 125 grain semi-jacketed hollow point (L38S2B) ammunition, may contain 357 Magnum ammunition. This packaging mix is specific to lot number: P24UA18R only. Usage of 357 Magnum ammunition in 38 Special firearms could result in firearm damage and personal injury. Do not use Remington/UMC 38 Special +P 125 Gr. Semi-jacketed hollow point ammunition with lot number P24UA18R. Contact the Remington Consumer Service Department at: 800-243-9700 for further information.

But the 357 MAG is too long to fit a 38 SPECIAL cylinder

    Exactly!

The only way I could see this being a "problem" was if someone bought 38's for low-recoil practice in a 357 revolver, only to find that they got 357 Magnum rounds for the 38 Special price.

If someone puts these in a 38 Special revolver, the cylinder doesn't close...so no real "danger" is possible.

I heard that there were some .38 Specials sloppily chambered that would accept a .357. I'm talking way back, maybe 40's 0r 50's. Could be a possibility.

Sloppy chambers has nothing to do with it, the cylinder on a 38 is not long enough to accept a 357. Bullets will fit in fine, but will stick out the end of the cylinder and it will not shut.
