I have read a lot of bad reviews about the newer Marlins made by Remington.
    Many quality control issues.

Have these been resolved? I know I've read that lots of people want nothing to do with the 1894's made by Remington, and the "JM" marked models are going for premium prices.

Does anyone know if these same type problems were found in the Remington made 1895 .45-70govt models?

I have seen some good ones and a few pieces of crap. Check carefully fit finish and canted sights or barrel droop.
If you know lever actions you can spot most of the issues. I would not purchase if not allowed to chamber and cycle rounds for the marlin jam (much more rare on 1895 than 1894 models)

Ones that are pure Remington are okay, they're built on new machines and I haven't seen any bugs.

The ones you want to watch out for are the ones right after Freedom Tards bought Marlin, they told all the old workers they had X number of rifles to produce then they're fired. So, they didn't care about the rifles (rightfully so) so they have a lot of finishing errors, off parts, etc.

I was looking at one marked REP inside an elongated circle, then it had another P I think outside of the circle.

Would this one be a pure Remington?
Fit and finish look really good.
