I built a Semiauto Sten gun a number of years ago and have thought about selling. But I have no idea of what it would be worth. Built from torched parts kit and an Indy Ordinance semi automatic bolt kit. What do you guys think it would be worth?
Why would that be?Actually I seriously doubt it is legal to sell this firearm! Since this did not come as a "kit" with a "Factory" receiver (no 4473), I believe it is considered as a home built firearm. In my opinion this is legal to possess, but not legal to sell / transfer.
I think he would just have to engrave his name and make up a serial number to engrave on it since he is the manufacturer.Actually I seriously doubt it is legal to sell this firearm! It's not illegal to sell a homemade firearm, provided the builder isn't in "engaged in the business" of building guns. So as of right now, OP can sell it, provided he isn't building guns as a regular course or trade.Actually I seriously doubt it is legal to sell this firearm! Can an individual now manufacture these firearms and sell them?
Any person "engaged in the business" as a manufacturer must obtain a license from ATF.
The term "engaged in the business" means— (A) as applied to a manufacturer of firearms, a person who devotes time, attention, and labor to manufacturing firearms as a regular course of trade or business with the principal objective of livelihood and profit through the sale or distribution of the firearms manufactured.
