    Pretty sure this is still a firearm in all senses.

    IC Section 35-47-1-5 - "Firearm"
    "Firearm" means any weapon:
    (1) that is:
    (A) capable of expelling; or
    (B) designed to expel; or
    (2) that may readily be converted to expel;
    a projectile by means of an explosion.

    IMHO, this expels (shoots) a projectile (arrow) by means of an explosion (blank).
    Now, some argument could be made about whether this is technically expelling that projectile... but I think a CO will think it is, and you'd need a slick attorney coupled with a sympathetic judge to succeed.

    Still an interesting contraption!
    Yes this will still be considered a pistol, this will still fire a 22 round with a bullet, without a front sight it won’t be accurate but It’ll still shoot a bullet. So it’s still pistol

    I know the pneumatic arrow launchers are ok to use in gun season but not in bow. My guess is this would be along the same line...

    Are those carbon bolts? If so, I wonder how they will hold up to the blast of the blanks? I definitely wouldn't want one exploding before or shortly after leaving the barrel.

    FYI, I wouldn't recommend CCI blanks. I've had lots of trouble with them in my retriever dummy launcher. Probably one in five are either way under or over powered. Under powered is probably not a problem but over powered could be.

    They are aluminum and so far the only issue has been getting the tips glued in to withstand the blast. I didn't even try to find cci blanks. I can buy 3 different powder charges at any hardware in town and easier to find

    RamSet meets that criteria yet you do not have to have a ffl to buy one. I do not believe its considered a firearm even though it uses blanks to fire a nail projectile.

    Ahh, the ol' hardware store loophole.

    Think this is due to weapon/tool intent of use? Genuinely curious why this is different.
