I went to the local gun shop to look at the Kimber Raptor II, a full size stainless model. I was completely sold on the Raptor until I saw the Gold Combat in the glass case below. The Gold Combat felt better than any other 1911 in my hands. That might be why it is so expensive. Left the gun shop with no pistol. Holding out for the combat I guess. Anyone on this forum have this gun? Positives or negatives to consider?

    Thanks.

Just my :twocents:. I'd get the plane Stainless II. Spend the saved $ on ammo and shoot, shoot, shoot it. You also won't feel so obligated to shed a tear at every tiny scratch or holster wear you get.

I have a Gold Combat RL II ... sweetest shooting gun in my safe. Worth the extra $$$ ??? Only you can answer that. If you lived near me, I might let you try it.

There is this to consider. I still love the gun ... not so fond of Kimber.

(I didn't know they made a stainless version.)
