Sunday I joined a group from Fort Wayne for a canoe and kayak trip on the Pigeon River. 15 people, 1 dog, 12 boats. After a chilly morning it warmed up fast. Beautiful day on the water. For privacy of those on the trip I will only show pictures without direct face shots.

The only portage of the trip.

I didnt know there was such a thing as a kit built kayak but am going to research it.THANKS

Pygmy Boat Kits: Voted Best Wooden Kayak There are other kit companies but this one is rated about the best and their boats are excellent. Most take about 80 hours to complete. Cost is about 1/3 to 1/2 of a comparable finished wood boat. The one in the pictures is one of the 17 ft models.

Nice River this time of year when the water is normally up this time of year and the bugs are down.
    t

With the dry spring water is very low. More like summer than a normal spring. The liveries have done a lot of the spring work cutting deadfalls. We had only one portage in about 10 miles of river. With the low water it wasn't real fast and was very easy.

If anyone is looking for a partner in NE Indiana pm me and I may be able to go. It is nice to have a group to help with shuttling vehicles between the put-in and take-out points.
