Sorry Grunts, the Navy has you beat here.

The best surplus Ammo can is actually .....NAVY.

I mean the SMALL ARMS AMMO BOX MK1 MOD 0.. These things are built like a battleship, no less then six latches. They seal so tightly that after a pressure change I can pop a latch and hear the whoomph as the air inside the can equalizes with the outside.

I found mine at a peddlers mall years ago for $10 bucks.

    18.5" x 14.5" x 9.25

    Looks nice.

How many of those 22 Bucket o Bullets can you empty into it at one time though? Imagine the looks on your friends faces when you invite them to the back 40 for a day of 22 plinking, and you show up with that thing stuffed to the top with loose 22 rounds, overflowing like a pirate treasure chest!
I keep the good expensive ammo in there. But I imagine it would hold five figures of 22.

But lifting the thing will damn near give you a Hernia with it loaded. But the Navy had no end of strong 18 year olds to move these things around..

Grab two of them in one hand and run a bit with them.
Those cans weren't designed for a Grunt to carry. They were designed for hands that are soft and aren't used to carrying ammo like Grunts do.

That would be used as ammo storage in my ammo storage room.
