I don't really get the distinction. How is it any more ruthless than punching holes through people with a piece of metal?

Well, for one - the light weapons we would be able to deploy at this time would not target the same part of the body...

    Think burning out enemy retinas...

In the 80's, weapons like that were shelved because of the public relations disaster they were perceived to create... At that point in time they were so large they had to be carted on trucks.

Since it was so taboo, they - at least publicly - did not get developed much further.

NOPE! I'm still a dinosaur.... give me a nice fat chunk of lead at 850 to 1000 fps. Does all I want to do. Remember the KISS principle !

I think Crimson Trace should come out with a laser grip that throws three red dots, like the Predator movies. Would sell a ton of them to nerds/geeks/dorks...

If I got one................I'd immediately disable the stun function.

But if you do that you lose the ability to shift your triphasic frequency in rotation. Your phaser will be as usefull as the **** on a boar against the Borg. (lack of purple intentional.)

It's just a laser pointer with the current limiting component removed. Will pop balloons and maybe light a match but not very effective on walls and such. You can find how to modify the pointer all over on YouTube.
its actually a blue-ray laser out of a dvd player and blue well never be available in a hand held laser cause it will straightly burn objects

    Stargate FTW!!!!:rockwoot:
YES, Star Trek was a socialist society while star wars and stargate were capitalist....Long ago I saw a comparison of star wars and star trek in both the areas of technology and political/economic structure and it was VERY interesting. This was back in the days of dial up "you've got mail" internet, but it may still be out there somewhere.
