Traveling to Chicago soon.

I will be traveling to Chicago soon for a couple days. Just to double check. When I enter IL, I will need to remove my gun and place it in the trunk, correct?
I can have it in my hotel room, but I can not carry it while I am out and about, correct?
This is my first time in the soviet state of Chicago.

You can have it on you while in the vehicle as long as you have a LTCH but can't have it on you when to exit the vehicle except to secure it in the trunk.

This is the new law and is correct. There was a thread showing the Chicago police directives about it around here somewhere.

Remove it, lock it up UNLOADED....and have ammo locked and separated from gun. They are real DICKS about it in Chicago.

Chicago law recently got trumped by a new Illinois license reciprocity law, but I don't know dates and details.
As others have said, see the Chicago Police directives posted already.
