Vehicle Carry

In the state of Indiana, what are the laws concerning carrying a rifle in my vehicle? does it need to be locked up? must it be unloaded? I don't want to wind up breaking the law so any information you may have to offer would be greatly appreciated

The only thing you need to worry about on carrying a long gun in your vehicle is this:

Keep it in a location where nobody can see it. Otherwise, it could be stolen.

You may carry it loaded in the vehicle, but as the previous poster mentioned keeping it out of sight may be wise.

Also,if it's a shotgun... If it has a pistol grip and no stock it is considered a handgun in the state of Indiana, because it is designed to be fired with one hand. Kind of a gotcha.

It's a rifle so you can keep it however you wish but like he said ^^^ keep it hidden and don't tell people its in the truck. Before too long somebody has told somebody else and then your rifle gets stolen and you have to replace the window in your truck.

Yea, I have only been a Hoosier a few years, but I am really digging the firearm laws!

Carry it as you wish whether its a rifle or shotgun . The only reason I have a handgun permit is because a 12 gauge is a little unhandy to cc .

Luck has nothing to do with it. There are many Hoosiers out there that fight constantly for your rights. It is your RIGHT to carry whatever weapon you want however you want to carry it. Anything less is infringment.

It looks like we still have a lot of work to do.
