what are your opinions on the Rock Island compact (officer)?

Hey folks, I am considering a Rock Island compact model for CC. What are your thoughts and/or experiences with them?

Don't own 1......yet.....good as you'll find for the $$ IMO. I would'n have a problem tuck'n it in my waistband same as others that cost 3 times more....

I haven't owned the compact but I have owned a couple of the 5" models.
Decent guns. Just make sure they're dependable and broke in good before depending on them for your life.

Great gun for the price. I have an officers model. It's basic and does the job. Like the gun.

I had great luck with my compact rock. It always shot a little low. It was 100% reliable and thats what I care about.

Thanks for the input. I picked it up, changed the grips and went to the range today! Fun shooter! It's a little ammo picky, though. It wouldn't extract half of the Magtech rounds but it fed www perfectly! The Magtech may be loaded a little light. It did hit low of poa but once I compensated for it I was shredding the bullseye at 15 yards!
Overall I am very happy with my new shooter!

I've had mine for 4 months. I've never had a failure due to ammo. My wife limp wristed and had a ftfeed. After our first time out, it has been perfect.

Can you get them with an alloy frame, or is steel the only option with Rock Island ?

Just got the gun back home. Already cleaned it and filed the front sight down a bit. While it was apart I noticed that the extractor was a little light on tension so I tuned it. Hopefully that will take care of the fte's.

They come in both all steel or alloy frame. Cheaper than Dirt has the alloy frame listed at $403.
