Have never fired it in the 41 but the recent lots of Auto Match I've tried have been reliable but not the best accuracy. An exception is an older lot that I had about 5 years ago that shot as good as anything I tried in my 22/45. Actually shot my all time best 20 shot 50 yard target with it!
I was surprised when my friend told me he shot the Super-X HV. I'll have to text him and ask if that was what he used in matches or just practice ammo.
As to the stovepipes don't know if it could be an ejector , extractor or ammo issue with your 41. I usually shoot CCI std. vel. or Federal...
The grips are German made Nill target grips.
The scope is actually a rarely seen 5X Burris. Was not able to get the reticle clearly defined on target. Will adjust the focus next time out , was just trying to get sighted in close for now. Yeah I have used that 5X on some Contenders too!
Since...
When the reticle does not appear to move regardless of eye position the parallax is correct for the distance. When moving the eye slightly if the the reticle moves too the parallax is not correct. That is the way I understand it. On a rifle it is easier to keep the eye "perfectly" centered , for...
I am finally going to accuracy test my 41 , did a quick sight in yesterday at 25 yards and shot a few groups. Need to get the scope focused better next time and have the parallax adjusted for the distance , the yardage indicator on PA scopes is rarely spot on in my experience.
Was hoping to win a Ruger MKII pistol at auction today but it went higher than I wanted to pay. Saw this pair sell right afterwards. A little more than I could afford!
Only one I ever owned is my used Taurus 96 22lr which looks a lot like the old Smith 17. In fact when I first saw it in the display case at the gun store that's what I thought it was. Then I seen the price was way low for a 17 and then I saw the grips were not Smith grips. Then realized it was a...
I said I wouldn't but any guns in 2024 and that lasted a little over 3 months , was in Anderson last month and saw a gun I didn't realize I needed! A P365X Macro. This gun just felt so right in the hand when I first picked it up but I actually left the shop without buying it. I finally decided...
First of all , very well written review! That 29-6 is a beauty! Actually shooting 44 magnum ammo in Smith revolvers I would definitely want a version made after the endurance upgrades.
Have 3 Smiths with MIM (66-5 , 629-5 and 617-5) The 617-5 even has the lock. One feature all three share is...
About the only upgrade I ever felt any of my MK II series pistols needed was trigger work. And mainly for one handed bullseye shooting. Bought my 5.5" MKII in 1994 and sent it to Clark and with the gun and trigger work had probably $325 in the gun. Even buying a used MKII today and upgrading the...
The range was never supervised at all in the short time I was a member and is part of a park that includes a fishing pond , a building that they rent out and some playground equipment. The front gate to the park is always open during the season and membership there includes the gun range.
The...
Shot at this range outside of Dunkirk a few years ago but became tired of repeated safety violations like others opening fire when I'm downrange posting targets. That was it for me. Saw they now did this to the range??? At least the yahoos that fired when I was down range would have had a excuse...
Wow! King Cobra 22lr , I have never seen one yet! Hard to beat that Dan Wesson! Of my 3 DA 22lr revolvers , 617-1 4" , 617-5 6" and Taurus 96 the 6" 617 is the most accurate.
