What is the 223 for ? AR loadings?
Best bet is to buy sm base die set. You sm base size, it'll work for everything, regardless of whether it goes in a bolt or AR.
I learned this the hard and expensive way on my last 2 AR's I bought in the same week. One a Colt the other a Stag.
Couldn't get them to cycle, thought it was my dies, bought Lees, RCBS, and used my inherited Lyman set.
Finally found out they required sm base sizer, problem solved.
If it's true what I was told, ammo makers sm base size their 223 ammo. I just took it at face value on why factory would cycle thru my AR's but not my reloads, on these 2 new ones.
Redding dies are tighter dimensions equivalent to sm base sizer you'd buy from RCBS, from what was passed on to me also.
