Especially about the erratic ejection. I had an opportunity to shoot one this afternoon and wouldn't you know it every one of those spent casings hit me square in the forehead. Well maybe a little off to the left but they all ejected straight back. Let me tell you that it's not a very pleasant feeling. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not a glock basher but I'm no fanboy either. I like the glock for what it is. It's a no frills, reliable fighting handgun. Glock needs to realize that this is a very real issue and really do something about it. Don't just hide behind the tagline of "perfection" The progression up to the 3rd gen guns was pretty close to what they were striving for. I think they missed the mark with their gen 4 line. I'll just stick to the 3rd gen guns.

A lot of the newer 3rd gen guns also have the issue. The best fix Glock has right now is the newest ejector for the Gen 4. Unfortunately they don't like to give that out to fix gen 3s.

My new Gen 4 Glock 19 does not have that issue through the 1st 100 rounds. With the ejection issue aside, I like the Gen 4 much better than any previous version of the Glock pistol.

The Gen 3 G17 I owned for a short time would also plunk me in the head / forehead with ejected brass.

I bought a G 4 17 last summer and had some issues. I got the recoil spring assembly replaced under the recall and it got better. I since have put about 1200 rounds through it and even though it is better I still get hit in the forehead now and then. Now if shoot hotter or better ammo I don't have that issue.

My G3 21 was my 1st Glock and sold me on them. I shoot my 17 better now, but I am not sure I would buy it again if I could do it over. I like the features of the G 4 though other than getting hit in the face with hot brass :) I just wanted a 9 because they cost less to shoot.

I spent all week last week on the range at work. We had around 100 Gen4 Glock 17s out there and the erratic ejection was pretty interesting. I was instructing the range, so I was right behind the firing line watching the shooters pretty much the entire time. I was amazed that it wasn't just different guns ejecting in a different direction, each round from each gun woud eject and land somewhere else. An officer would get hit in the forehead with one round and the next one would eject right and foreward.

I should add that I saw two double feeds the entire week, but no other issues.

With the Gen3 22s we had, the brass from any stage of fire would all be in a pile at the same spot.

How can you tell what year your glock is and which part it has?

If it has a fired shell that packet will have a date on it. There is some way to figure it out by serial number too. I don't know when the Gen 3s starting having issues. I have never seen anyone with an exact "safe" date.

The ejector has a number stamped on it. I believe all Gen 3s have the 336 ejector. Gen 4s built before sometime in Oct. 2011 also have the 336. 30274 should be the latest Gen 4 9mm ejector. If you have a gen 4 9mm with issues talk to a Glock armorer and they can get the new ejector for you.

If you have a Gen 3 you can try but Glock may not help you. Some guys were buying Gen 4 blocks to get the new ejector for their gen 3s but everywhere is out of stock.

I only carry and shoot a glock 19. On my two Gen 3 19's never had this happen. On my wife's Gen3 19 it would hit her in the face all the time. When I shot it, never could get it to happen on me. No idea why.

I have about 2000 rounds through my Gen 4 17 with no issues. I did install the latest recoil spring per Glocks recommendations. I have never been hit by brass. Maybe I just got lucky and got a good one, but I am happy with it. :dunno:

The main difference I notice in the ejection is when I am shooting my lighter or hotter reloads. My light reloads eject to the right and a little forward. The hotter reloads eject to the right and a little back.

The only issue I've had with mine is the slide doesn't usually lock to the rear on an empty magazine.

While there didn't seem to be issues with the function of the Glocks I saw being fired, the erratic ejection likely means there is something not operating the same way each time the trigger is pulled. It is possible that it is the ammunition also, but it is the same brand (Eagle) that we used in the .40 gen 3 guns and never had that issue.
