What stinks is that is enough ammo to arm most of the druggies in the west end of Louisville.

I will say something to my police buddies down that way.

Sheesh man. I hope it's all recovered. I don't have anywhere near that much and I try to keep what I do have hush hush. (Don't post photos of my stuff on Facebook, don't chitchat around people I don't know/trust about what I have, etc).

As everyone else mentioned, it's likely someone you know. Definitely sounds planned and sounds like they knew they had the time to get what they needed, meaning they probably knew when you're at home and when you're not.

I just wish you had called into work that day sick, and your car was in the shop so it wasn't in the driveway, and you were home and heard these scumbags going through your belongings while they casually sift through it thinking you're at work or away. Surprise surprise! Castle defended.

Gunner, I would bet you lunch at your favorite White Castle that you know the people involved. Someone had to know of you stash, planned to get it and executed it based on your schedule.
Who do you know that has hit hard times lately....has a brother of questionable integrity that has been to your garage/house. Could have been a casual friend of one of your friends. possibly a neighbor. We all hate to think that people we know and have helped out over the years would do this but, someone knew your layout and schedule.

Nothing worse than a thief except for a child molester or brutalizer of woman. They all fall under the same umbrella with me.

This is very true. Unfortunately most of the time on these things it is someone who is known. It only makes sense, the person knew how much stuff you had in there.

OP: Sorry for your loss man, I'll pray for you that you find some sort of resolution on this, that is a lot of $ to lose.

Damn man that sucks. It's a terrible feeling when some low life takes the fruits of your hard work. I hope you find the POS who did this...and like the others, I bet it's someone you know.

Strange liability question but are you liable if one of your rounds is double charged and they get hurt with it, kinda like if they had tripped in your garage and broke an arm and sued?

Interesting legal point. Of course anyone can sue anyone and there are places (California for instance) where criminals getting injured while committing a crime have been awarded ridiculous damages but I don't believe Indiana is one of those places. But say there was a double-charged handload in the stolen ammo, and the perp shot it and was injured. So in the process of filing a claim against you he'd have to admit how he came into possession of the round, in this case, via THEFT. So in order to make the claim against the original owner he'd have to admit his crime.

Of course that also begs the question of whether the person who loaded the round has any liability here. It seems you could say "I didn't load that round to be fired. It was a test round."

I agree with other posters, someone you know has done this or told others about what you have. I hate to hear about your loss. This is just a reminder to all of us, be careful about who knows your business.

I live in Clark County and will keep my eyes and ears open. Hopefully you will recover you stuff.

Wow...I just can't get over this. I feel terrible for you and I hope you can recover your goods. It certainly is a good reminder for me. We live in a subdivision and after two years there are a group of us "like minded folks" that have kind of found each other and talk more than some of the other neighbors. The reality is I don't know many of them more than the man in the moon. I don't take in specifics a lot anyway, but this is a good wake up call for me to be more cautious.

Well everyone, I have to agree with everyone's statement about needing to keep my pie hole shut. As for how they got in, well they were a friend of my oldest son, also the person who robbed me of at least the mutimeter and the tools also stole my neighbors generator, was seen by another neighbors kid loading the thing up in a van with someone else. This kid has also stolen numerous xbox 360's games and controllers from various people's homes who he was invited into. I was also told that he was overheard asking someone if they wanted to trade smoke for ammo. Of course all this information is going to the detectives when they get back to me. Anyway, I do appreciate people keeping an eye out for things because I dont know how much, if any, my insurance will cover, I need to pull out my policy and take a look. Anyway I appreciate everyone!

I hope they take it seriously and you get it all back. That was a lot of time and effort to make that much ammo. I had to take out extra ins. because there isn't much coverage in a standard policy.

It figures that drugs would some how be involved. I am glad you have a great lead. Hopefully the little SOB will get 3 hots and a cot for a very long time.

I feel for you man. I'm not trying to be a smart@#* when I say this but the value of the ammo taken was probably worth more than some or all of the guns you may own... Why wouldn't you have it in a safe as well?? I hope you catch those bastards!!

I have a rule at my home...until I clear someone they are not allowed to come and go, period. No new names and faces. It made my kids crazy but they were not the best judges of character. They proved this time and again until at least their mid 20's.
Oh, he is a friend of a buddy of mine. BS.....And your situation is the reason I had and still have this rule.

Me too. I don't have kids yet, but I definitely would like a plan to handle bad friends.

I'm not sure if you're familiar with the show, but it reminded me of this.
