I highly recommend the VP9. Great ergonomics and a very good shooter. Not a big fan of the striker ready indicator, looks kinda cheap, that's just my opinion.

I had been using my USP as my EDC for nearly 20 years, I bought my first VP9 as part of a preorder on HKPro within a week I retired my USP in favor of the VP9 and I have historically never cared for the strikers, I have 2 Glocks that I rarely shoot...just dont like em. I absolutely love the VP9, I ended up getting another one just for the other hand, wouldnt want the left hand feeling left out of the fun.... If you ever come up this way I would gladly let ya shoot it. I had a PPQ and just didnt care for the feel of it and I wasnt nearly as accurate with it as I was with my old USP let alone the new VP9. Get the VP9, train with it and never look back.

My thoughts on my new H&K VP9

Just got my first H&K Friday, the VP9 and thought I would share what I've discovered in my case. First off I'm not a Glock Fan Boy although I do carry a Glock daily after replacing my 1911 with one a couple years ago mainly for the weight and durability. If anything I'm a 1911 Fan Boy, I compete in USPSA with a 2011 open gun as well as a 2011 in Limited Class and a 1911 in Single Stack. Don't compete much in production but maybe that will change with the VP9.

After putting a couple hundred reloaded rounds through my VP9 without the first hiccup I decided I would see how well I shot it compared to my Glock 19.

I placed a USPSA target 20 yards away and fired 3 rounds as fast as I could pick up the sights with both guns. The VP9 has the standard 3 dot sight. My 19 has Truglo Sights. I fired several strings from both guns and noticed the groups were considerably closer with the VP9, in fact several of them were double hits with the 3rd shot really close. The 19 gave me respectable hits but not near as tight as the VP9 and I have fired over 9 thousand rounds through the 19 so I feel I can shoot it pretty well. I have also done some trigger work on the 19 so I don't think that affected my accuracy.

Overall the feel of the VP9 is more comfortable to shoot than the 19 but I do think I get more muzzle flip with the VP9.

I'm sure I will get a chance to put a lot more rounds through the VP9 in the next few weeks but from what I have seen so far I would choose it over my 19 any day of the week.

I now have striker guns by Glock, S&W, and H&K. I must say in my opinion the H&K has the best fit, feel, finish, and accuracy right out of the box.

I have one, it is a very accurate gun and it has a nice trigger, the ergonomics are great, the gun feels very good in your hand, with all the grip panels that come with it you can custom fit it to you.

Mine was slightly gritty when I got it used. Turns out it was some crud in the path of the spring and disappeared after I gave it a good cleaning. I also used a dry-lube on that spot to aid if that happened again.

Grit in the trigger causing a gritty feel? That's unpossible! :)

Nice review. Did the grittiness of the trigger go away with use?

No, there is still a distinguishable 'hump' halfway through the pull, but it's only noticeable if you're executing a very slow, smooth, deliberate trigger pull. With a normal, sharp trigger press it's really not noticeable.

I've got the same thing going on with the trigger in my SA Loaded, so I know what you're talking about.

That hump halfway through should be the point of staging the trigger bar on a striker, which is common. Shouldn't feel it on a 1911

Even despite what I've said it is far and away the best striker fired trigger on the market. The only thing that comes close is the PPQ.

I bought one a short time ago. If feels so good in my hand (I used the large sides, and medium rear panel) plus I was more accurate with it over my G19 at ranges over 7 yds. The combination of the trigger, and how it felt in my hand made the difference.

Oh boy..... All this talk about it MADE me finally buy one! Gunbroker for $625 delivered to my FFL. I bought the luminescent sight version, because I will have the Trijicon HD sights put on it anyway. I am sure, psychologically, I will find it to be superior to my PPQ, because if it isn't I have to admit that I bought another gun I didn't really need!

Finally got to actually see one in person the other day, felt really nice in my hand. Wish i would have had the extra cash to pick it up.

How'd you find that? I looked for quite a while and the ones listed are $575 without buy it now and then you have to pay "actual" shipping or $25 in most cases. The buy it now price goes up to $599.
