Are there really people this sensitive? I'm of the college age group, and something like that might have scared me... when I was two.

What have parents done to raise children so absolutely stunted? So immature?

Sent them to public school followed by a non-STEM program at college.
I would guess it is more parenting. I know plenty of public school educated, non-STEM degree holding (or simply HS diploma holding) folks that snort derisively at this whole "safe space" concept. Granted, I also know a few with degrees that would fall under "humanities" that this fits perfectly.

Prof Says U. of Iowa Mascot Is Too Scary For Special Snowflakes, Er, Students « Tammy Bruce

A University of Iowa professor is asking the athletics department to make the university’s mascot, Herky the Hawk, display friendlier facial expressions, arguing that his angry grimace is traumatizing students

A photo of the good doctor explains everything:

'Twas only a matter of time. The administration will eventually cave and fire the dean of students who will be homeless unless he has an alternative skill besides academia.

    I guess we'll see.

However, the U of C is for serious students, not for kids looking to avoid the responsibilities of adulthood. It's neither a state school with all that goes with that, nor a liberal arts school with all the nonsense that goes with that.

Sure, there will always be some SJWs in the mix, but they do not run things at the U of C.
