Over blown, panic inducing, global fear campaign. Just a psyop to see how much they can manipulate people. Along with the perfectly timed stock sell off. Anyone note this is any election year....?

No one has China's population density right? Except nursing homes I guess

Based on the metric of people per square kilometer, China is #80 on the list. Macau is #1 and Italy is ahead of China at #64 (207 ppl/km2 vs 144 ppl/km2)

China does have two of the top ten most populous cities, but so do Japan and India

IU essentially shut down last night.
Not quite. They suspended face to face lectures and meetings. Classes will continue in internet land. Business will continue remotely for those who don't need to be on campus.

I don't believe there is any containment procedure that will prevent the virus from spreading across the country and around the world. That's the nature of a virus. Most of us will have symptoms no worse than a cold. It seems that if your symptoms go beyond that you should seek medical attention quickly. My non-expert prediction is that the corona virus will become as common as the rino virus and flu virus and the hysteria being stirred up will cause more problems than the virus itself. Even if I'm wrong I know that life is not going to end, it will simply be different. This is not the apocalyptic event that the media wants it to be.

What dead duck means is the eggs you buy at food stores sold FOR consumption WILL NOT ever hatch. The egg company's do something, a process, to those eggs to ensure they can never hatch.

If you want eggs that CAN hatch you must get them direct from a farm or online from companies that sell "hatching eggs".

Actually "the process" is much simpler than you think. It's called a rooster. A hen will lay eggs with or without fertilization, much like human females have a monthly cycle that produces a single egg that may or may not be fertilized. If you have hens with no rooster, then you'll have a sterile egg that can never develop into a chick. Industrial egg farms have hundreds or thousands of hens only- no roosters allowed. Roosters are larger and generally are destined for the meat shelves.

If you have a rooster, then they'll do the natural thing and the eggs will likely be fertile. You can still eat fertilized chicken eggs with no problem (they'll have a small red spot on the yolk), but many find the idea yucky. If those fertilized eggs go through the full 21-day incubation process, then they'll hatch a chick. Your last part is correct. You can buy fertilized eggs or more commonly day-old chicks to raise yourself.

Mostly correct. It is very likely that a large percentage of people will get it. None of us have immunity and this particular virus is very good at spreading stealthily, so it is very hard to contain. The majority of us (and more so if you are younger) will not get hit with the serious/critical symptoms that requires significant medical help. The real goal is to do all we can to slow it down so that it doesn't overwhelm the medical system. An overwhelmed medical system would be the potential apocalyptic event as many people would suffer/die that otherwise wouldn't.
    • If you don't have enough ventilators, then more people suffer/die.
    • If your hospital bed capacity is overwhelmed due to the combination of CV19 and other legitimate needs, then they end up competing for beds and some patients will get less than ideal service and suffer/die.
    • If you have too many seriously sick at the same time, you burn out your healthcare workers trying to deal with a tsunami, rather than a difficult, but manageable period. Not enough healthcare workers compared to the load means that additional people suffer/die.
    • If you stretch out the heavy load, then there is more possibility of getting additional needed supplies to minimize suffering/death.
The longer we can stretch out the period before people get sick, the more they will learn about how to more effectively treat CV19 patients and to eventually get a vaccine to prevent it. So, the bulk of us can do what we can by simply trying not to get sick.

If you thought coronavirus was no big deal or if you thought it was going to go away, wake up.( new CNN headline, not me even saying it. I tried to say it for quite awhile though. Seems the narrative has changed, perhaps because they can see what is happening in Italy)

Your life is about to change.
Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, issued a disturbing warning during a White House briefing Tuesday: Americans everywhere need to change the way they live their lives. Right now.
"We would like the country to realize that as a nation, we can't be doing the kinds of things we were doing a few months ago. It doesn't matter if you're in a state that has no cases or one case," Fauci said, referring Americans to the new federal Coronavirus.gov website for details on precautions to take at home, at work and out in the world.

"If and when the infections will come -- and they will come, sorry to say, sad to say -- when you're dealing with an infectious disease... we want to be where the infection is going to be, as well as where it is," Fauci said.
"Everybody should say, 'All hands on deck,'" he added.

    Much more in the article.

I did not write it. It is the message they should have said over 2 months ago. Now it is plastered on the front page of cnn, after 2.5 months of saying it was no worse than the flu.

"We would like the country to realize that as a nation, we can't be doing the kinds of things we were doing a few months ago," Fauci said.
He ranked eighth out of more than 2.2 million authors in the field of immunology by total citation count between 1980 and January 2019, per the Web of Science.

    more at source.

"We can't be doing the kinds of things we were months ago"...ok, so now what? The reality is that Covid-19, like EVERY ONE OF ITS CONTEMPORARIES (swine flu, SARS, MERS, ebola, etc., etc.) is being added to the inventory of viruses that will continue infecting humans into the future. I can't live in a bubble forever, so now what? I'm on my phone and can't find the source(s), but it is my understanding that 70-80% or more of the world's population will be exposed to Covid-19. It doesn't appear that this is a "if", but a "when".

Looks like my best options going forward are good hygiene and doing my best to keep myself healthy.

Maybe I'll get exposed to Covid-19 and die. Likely I'll get exposed, get sick and recover. Maybe I'll get hit by a semi on my way home or by a 20-something checking their facepage status instead of their lane position.

If my maker decides it's time to call me home, I'm at peace with that, regardless the cause. I'll do my best to keep myself healthy - i refuse to live my life in fear.

Went to Babbs today. No panic in anyone's eyes. No TP or hand sanitizer. Everything else was in stock.

No bodies in the street, no fires, all the emergency equipment was at the station and the nursing homes look normal. Saw many older people out and about and zero masks.

Looked like a normal day, how is your town?

Things are actually turning around for better.

My my family is in southern China just north of HK. The weather is getting warmer, 75-80 during day time. The body temperature check points on highway have all gone, factories have gradually reopened, restaurants are getting customers back again.

It is my understanding that the virus is contracted, primarily through direct contact and ingestion.

It's not really an airborn disease. Someone has to cough or sneeze directly on you and then that droplet has to make it's way into your mouth.
