Unfortunately, family vacation prevents me from taking this class, but I hope it is offered again. Even though this will not involve any live fire, this should be a very interesting and informative course to attend.
For those who have not taken any courses from Defensive Shooting Concepts...
I've taken MAG20 & MAG40...if you carry and haven't had this type of training, you owe it to yourself to sign up the next time he is at Sand Burr. There is so much valuable information that he spews out over 4 full days that I took over 40 pages of notes and still didn't think I captured it all.
I had 6 guns stolen about 10 yrs ago...the police called me a few years ago to tell me they recoverd one gun and when I went downtown to pick it up, I asked them to run the serial numbers of the others just to see if they had my other guns. Turned out they had 4 more of them in the property room...
I just acquired a S&W Model 686 SSR Pro Series revolver and have started looking for an OWB holster. No holster manufacturer seems to offer a holster specifically for the Model 686 SSR. I am curious if anyone has found the holster for a standard 686 to be too loose for the 686 SSR given that it...
I took the course 2 summers ago, and as everyone says, it's a great course. Sand Burr is a good place to take the course too. Just don't expect any luxuries and you'll be fine. Ayoob has many segments of the course that are pre-recorded and shown on a large TV, but he'll explain why he does...
I have taken Frank's Defensive Pistol Level 1 course (twice), Defensive Rifle Level 1 course (twice), Tactical Medical course (twice), Battlefield Pickup course (once) and Defensive Pistol Level 2 course (once). Each time, I have walked away physically and mentally drained. While his courses...
Enkrypter - I'm not a geek (setting up my computer & network frustrated me, lol), so I didn't know what a Raspberry Pi is or for that matter a magnetic reed sensor or desktop UPS, but after searching for them on Google, this idea sounds very interesting. Can you tell us more?...i.e., where to...
Fortress Defense Consultants (Welcome to Fortress Defense Consultants) has a Utah CCW course scheduled on Jan 26th. They are located in Crete, IL, which is on the IL/IN state line. Frank and his group of trainers are good people and know their stuff. Would also suggest you sign her up for one...
Get a hold of Frank Sharpe (Glock21) at Fortress Defense Consultants. He has some great defensive weapon courses and personally runs a FAL, which is his favorite rifle. His courses are very reasonably priced and you will learn a lot in his classes while becoming quite comfortable with the FAL.
The politicians in Chicagoland now want a violence tax on guns and ammo...I am so glad I don't live there, rarely visit the place and have no reason to drive through it.

I also attended the 5-day training course (2nd year in a row) and let's just say it's "kick a$$". You get to do things that you won't be doing at other ranges, but Frank runs a very safe range...among other things, he's constantly monitoring for fingers on triggers at inappropriate times during...
If a bad guy breaks into your home, your manual dexterity goes out the window and the ability to control a light trigger will be zilch. If you were involved in a shooting, the prosecutor would have you wishing you never even thought about fiddling with the trigger on your self-defense weapon.
