The biggest problem I have with that feeder in that location is ants climbing up the shepherds hook. I spray bug killer at the base and half way up the pole to keep them off and not affect the hummers.
I don't try to keep the bees away as they need all the help they can get.
Every time I order something on the interwebz, I hold by breath and pray it arrives intact. I can think of a hundred things I'd rather do instead of filing a damage claim for a package I received.

We saw/heard one buzz past a couple weeks ago in Owen County. The feeder here in Indy has been out for a week but I think they've been stopping by, I just haven't seen them.

As for diameter, a 5"x 5"x 5" wedge shape is average for what we cut. And bigger than my forearm. We don't get any more money for smaller split wood, per se...
