A local antique shop hosted a 3 day flea market over the weekend. It was like we stepped into the 80’s again. Antiques, car parts, knives, miscellaneous cool stuff, guns and NO t-shirt stands. On Sunday I brought home a 1940 Winchester model 75, went back Monday and bought home a Winchester...
I have always preferred 22LR over other rifle calibers, I have 34 of them and I recently added my first official “Target” rifle. It was a 1925 Winchester model 52 very accurate and fun to shoot. Yesterday I bought a 1985 Remington 541 X Target 22LR. I dialed it in today at 50 yards and holy crap...
I was sighting in my recently acquired Mossberg B46B a couple weeks ago and heard a voice behind me say “save me some grandpa”. She was ringing the 4” gong pretty regular at 40 yards.
Another FM Hi-Power followed me home today. This one is the M90 variant built in the 1990’s in Argentina. Looks great for it’s age and shoots even better. It came with the original wrap around finger groove grips, but I prefer wood grips.
I got tired of digging my 22 rifles out of the safe every time I wanted to do some backyard plinking, so I decided to hang some of them in my ammo closet for easy access. I figure I can rotate them occasionally to keep a fresh selection handy, plus it opens up 6 slots in my safe for future buys.
My wife and I went to TN over the weekend and did some antique and gun shop hopping. I bought a used Marlin model 60 made in 2009, the asking price was $160 (she got 17 Snow Babies, cost more than the gun).
The entire time we were in the gun shop, the owner my wife and I, and another customer...
My brother in law pulled this Marlin 989M2 with the Marlin 1870-1970 commemorative medallion out of his closet today. He also has the original rear sight. Any ideas about it’s value?
It was a good weekend for gun shopping, I acquired 4 more 22 rifles for my collection, two of which I have been searching years for. The top one is an H&R 550 "Pal" it caught my eye because of the shortened and threaded 17" barrel. I figure I can either suppress it or, I can get a full size...
Due to recoil my wife will only shoot a 22LR pistol for target or defence, so afew years ago she chose a Ruger SR22 which has proven to be very dependable. It's been loaded up with Remington golden bullet 36gr hollow points since we got it. Today I bought a box of Winchester 37gr segmenting...
I finally got to shoot my son in law's ruger 10/22 with a Franklin Binary trigger, holy cow that thing can shoot fast!! We went through a brick of ammo in a matter of few minutes, didn't hit a whole lot but we had fun.
I picked up an Argentine Hi Power the other day. All I have found on it is that they are licensed copies built on Browning tooling and imported by CAI in the 90’s. It shoots good and seems to be well made.
AKA down size, cleaning out the safe... selling guns. Who else has made this mistake? I’ve done it twice and now I seriously regret doing it. Some of the stuff I got rid for one stupid reason or another, I would give almost anything to get back. The most notable are an ERA M1917, 1972 Browning...
This is my small collection of handguns.
Taurus 85 Fitzgerald conversion, Taurus PT380 “Pinky”, Kimber Ultra my EDC, Ruger SR22, 1945 Inglis Browning Hi-Power, Taurus G2c and a Argentine FM Hi-Power on lay away.
Anyone else find it difficult to leave a sweet looking Rimfire at the gun shop? There’s one 17HMR, two 22 magnums and the rest are 22LR. 22LR is by far my favorite cartridge.
Anyone else a fan of the M1 Tanker or Mini-G? My Tanker is built on a 1944 Springfield chambered in .308 Win, it's one of my favorite center fire rifles. I also have a 1945 Springfield M1 Garand, and would love to add a 30/06 Mini-G to the group.
