I was at PSS the other day picking up a new gun for my girl as a christmas present when I noticed that they had 10 rd boxes of S&B 00 buckshot for $5.99 They had about 30 boxes left when I was there on 12/17. dont worry, I wont buy it all up and re-sell it to INGO members for 11.99 a box
Yep. The S&B stuff is a tad longer than 2-3/4", but is not 3". I found that tube guns lose 1 round of capacity when loaded up with them (not a problem with Saigas, of course!), and they are HOT. I haven't bought the S&B in awhile, preferring instead to use cheaper low-recoil 00 (Fiocchi, Rio, Wolf, etc) to better approximate my home defense load (Federal LE132 00).
They are 2 3/4" shells. remeber that the 2 3/4" or 3" is the length of the case when fired. The S&B ))Buck shlles use a roll crimp with an overshot wad, like the older shells did. This style of crimp doesn't 'fold over' as far as the more common star crimp, so the unfired shells are longer than an unfired star crimped round. I've shot quite a few of these in my 870 and the 500 that Slacker now owns and they fed just fine in both of those 2 3/4" guns. Shooter is right, you will lose a round of capacity in most 5 shot guns. I've got a +2 extension and a sidesaddle on mhy 870, so I don't feel bad about losing one shot, especially considering the extra lead per shot I gain!
Im glad I found these rounds. I hope you guys were able to get some before they sold out. I'm sure we will see some of these shells end up for sale here soon for $15.00 a box in the classified section
