Are 10MM projectiles the same as .40 S&W. I can find Berrys Bullets in 40 S&W. I am thinking I can interchange like .38 &.357.
am I incorrect?
thanks in advance.
10mm should use copper jackets or hard cast bullets at least 16 BHN more would be better. 16 BHN Coated bullets work good upto 1400fps that I've found.
Well, 10-13 BHN work well in both my 10mms, all the way up to max, just as they work well in my .44 Mag, all the way up to max. Hard cast bullets often have to be larger, as they will not swell and seal under pressure.
Lead bullets suitability as to do with FIT and lube, and alloy is very minor.
Plated bullets are only good for shooting out to about 12 yards, or if groups of 3-12" at 25 yards are good enough. YMMV, but that is what I found during the Obummer shortages.
Some people shoot .9mm and .10mm guns, others shoot 40mm and 45mm guns. Must be hard when ordering bullets. Have seen these calibers referenced in TV shows, also.
I've had slight leading with Acme bullets 180gr RNFP .430 in my 44 magnum. They were being pushed at 1757 fps avg though. Not bad but after 50 rds you definitely started to see it. It was easily cleaned out. Acme says they are 16BHN. My cousin uses 18BHN bullets for his 44 magnum and his 500 S&W magnum. Said he doesn't have any leading problem with 18BHN.
