10mm powders and load data.

Hi guys; It's been a long time since I have needed/loaded any 10mm. The only load data I have is what I copied out of magazines when it first hit the market way back when. Now I did find recent load data from Accurate powders (#7) but I'm wondering if the hive has settled on tried and true loads in recent years?

Due to the fact that bullets are now made of unobtainum I decided to cast my own since I have everything I need to cast Lee 175gn LSWC bullets, sized and lubed with ALOX wax to .401".

I really was hoping to find 180gn jacketed bullets sized to .401" but haven't seen any in stock anywhere.

So what are most of you using now days?

I just got out of 10mm reloading, but I used Accurate No. 7 powder and Speer 180gn TMJ bullets. Shot well in my Glock Model 40 MOS. Even the starting loads had more recoil than my arthritic hands wanted to shoot.

If you are going to load 10mm, you may want to join the 10mm Forum. There is a large amount of published load data
in the reloading sub forum. It seems the top powders for 180-200 gr bullets in 10mm are Blue Dot, Longshot, AA9, and VVN105.
If you are not looking for top velocities, there are several other powders that should work well.

Lead bullets: Did you slug the barrel so you know what the groove diameter really is?
I found that 155 and 175gn L-SWCs are most accurate in my 10mm.
Data should be easy to find on powder company's sites.

15.7 grains of AA9 ?? That is well beyond the max Accurate published data for a cast 170 gr bullet.

In Western Powders 7.0 data book it states 9.4gr start and 10.4 max load for AA #7

I have been using Longshot and WSF with 180gr plated and coated lead. Longshot at around 9-9.5gr is a stout load, but most that are around the max are for the 10mm. Hodgdon Reloading has a few powders listed that would work well.

Checking the load data in post #7 against the Accurate loading manual #1.
Some of the loads for Accurate #7 and #9 are for 10mm Magnum which is a longer case than 10mm Auto
1.255" compared to 0.992"
Check with current load data since Accurate was bought out.

Have a question is there a power that preforms like 800x in 10mm but is easy to meter? 800x imo is top powder for any 10mm load, but you have to trickle each load especially if it is on the high end.

9.6gr 800x gives me 1258fps in a stock glock barrel with no glock smiles. Above that I start getting glock smiles. With 200gr hard cast WFNGC bullets

I've got 3 lee auto drum, lee perfect powder measure, and Hornady auto charge digital scale. None of these meter 800x properly. At least the Hornady digital scale i just set it .5gr under my target and trickle in the rest.
