Beginning tonight at midnight, and lasting all day Thursday and Friday, January 10 and 11, Backwoods Home Magazine will be giving away 6 eBooks and 9 eBook back issues. It is by far our largest ever two-day Kindle giveaway. Some of these back issues are big (more than 15 Meg) because they are jpeg-intensive, so it may just take two days to download them all. Can you just download them, or do you have to "buy" them? And will the website deliver them to a device that's not a Kindle or running Kindle software?

You have to have a Kindle to download them. The good news is that you can get free Kindle reader software to install on your PC from Amazon. Well worth the effort. Amazon books are generally in Amazon's proprietary format and you have to jump through some hoops to read them on other e-readers.
