    1884 Springfield 45-70

My friend got a rifle from her fathers estate. It is marked US 1864 and Springfield and has at least most of its serial number intact. It has what looks like its original bayonet. I believe it is an earlier model converted to a breech loader in 1864. If anyone is an expert, I can send pics. Is anyone an expert on civil war rifles???

I'm not an expert nor do I know anything about that rifle but I would like to see pictures. If you would like to post them on the forum you can PM me and I will host the pictures.

Keith pointed me the right direction. It doesn't say 1864, it says 1884. It is a Springfield 1884 45-70. Thanks.
