$1,000 per pistol at the worst grade? I mean if people can pay that good on them, but I suddenly lost interest.

I saw that earlier today and had to re read to make sure I was reading it right. I haven't paid attention to surplus 1911 prices but I was shocked. I was interested at getting into a 1911 through this avenue, probably not anymore.

Wonder what the demand for these will be. Up to 10,000 per year available for sale doesn't sound like all that much.

It's seems strange that I can buy a a nearly NOS WW2 P-38 for 2/3 what they are asking for a rough 1911A1 of the same era.

For that money I'll keep buying P-38s. A decent WW2 1911A1 is about a $1500 item on GB these days.

Still in the idle speculation phase. I bought a Garand at the North Store and was #40 in line for the 1903s. Bob tried to talk me into a 30.06 Enfield and a Krag while I was picking up my 1903, I told him I already had an Enfield in .303 (the preferred flavor) and I wouldn't know what to do with a Krag. The rifle was $600 and some change and came with a case. I only had spousal approval for 1 rifle anyway. Anything rare will probably go to auction anyway and what ever is left in the stores will eventually be priced fairly. Would I pay more for an issue 1911 than I paid for my Kimber? Probably not. I will keep an eye on this and if it actually happens I would at least take a look. If the hoarders can't make a profit flipping these at gun shows and the regular Joes like us who already have 1911s balk, who does that leave to buy the supposed 100,000? I ain't scared.

Krags are good rifles, but 30-40 is getting hard to come by. Somebody needs to make another run of brass.
