Trump signs sweeping order that could gut Obamacare - POLITICO

A few hours after taking the oath of office, President Donald Trump signed a sweeping executive order that gives federal agencies broad power to unwind large parts of Obamacare, possibly including the hugely unpopular mandate requiring most Americans to purchase insurance.

The Obama administration never followed the ACA law as written. There were constant deferrals of the really bad parts for political convenience to hide the really bad parts from the voters. The full hammer of the ACA law has not yet been felt. Many parts were left to beuracrats to write regulations of their interpretation and that has been stopped. So glad it is ending.

I understand that. But "well he did it first" doesn't work with my kids, and it doesn't with the rule of law. I wish I could be surprised the argument has been made.

But hey, whatever he can do to gut this beast within his authority I will support.

Unfortunately, the ACA was passed into law by an act of Congress.

Ergo, it is going to take an act of Congress to get rid of it!

I will be thrilled beyond belief IF/WHEN President Trump signs into law a simple law that says something like, "As of Jan 1st, 2019 the Affordable Care Act is repealed in full." Until then, it will be a cancerous tumor on the body politic of the USA and all the executive orders in the world won't get rid of it.

Oban=ma's last gasp was filthy and needs repealing. Sending the FBI, for background check purposes, the names of folks on disability saying they should be denied thier 2A rights when purchasing a firearm. Hope Trump nixes this before it goes too far.
