2013 defensive shotgun class?

After taking several pistol classes in the last few years, I'm interested in expanding my training to include shotgun.

For shotgun, I'm not sure what to take or who to take it with. I shoot a bit of skeet/trap with an O/U, but I want to learn how to use my 18 inch 870 in a defensive manner, understand its strengths and weaknesses, the most efficient way to reload, etc. Can INGO provide some suggestions? I'd love to hear customer feedback especially. The class would ideally be one day long within 1.5 hrs of Indy and less than $300.

Louis Awerbuck has a 3 day shotgun class in Boone County.

Gunsite also has a 3 day shotgun class in Boone County.

Both are kind of spendy $ wise but by the time you are done you will know what your shotgun will and won't do.

FYI I never thought shotguns went out of style...they have always been cool! I like big holes or a lot of little holes...fun, fun, fun.

I'll have to investigate. I do know that Shotgun Level II used to be offered each summer, but attendance dropped and they stopped doing it at Boone Co. Perhaps the same thing happened to Shotgun Level I? We joke about shotguns not being cool anymore, but I suspect that perception may be a factor in enrollment.

Thanks all for your thoughts. Between center fire ammo going crazy expensive and the possible awb, I thought it made for a good year to learn more about that Wingmaster of mine. I have taken pistol with ACT so I know they are great, just wanted to do some comparison shopping and see what else existed.

The videos of Awerbuck classes look serious, holy cow. Maybe I treat myself to one of those eventually.

Looks like ill probably be at the ACT class later this year.

That's the problem. My schedule changes each term and I don't know what it will be until the week before the semester or summer session starts (at the earliest). Looks like 20-22 AUG 2013 is in the middle of the week, so it's possible I won't be able to make it.
