And away we go! Bollorollo is among the supporters
We had a fairly good turn out I feel and it was awesome seeing eveyone.
While listen to those who speak out agaisnt this bill the officer from Lafayette made my eyes roll so far back into my head I had problems getting them to roll back forward. Then he talked more and my eyes rolled rest of the way around. Once the questioning part of his speaking out agasint this bill ended he wasn't at all prepared for this part of answering questions by the Reps and looked a bit lost for answers.

I asked this in another thread before I saw this one. I watched for about an hour when I got home and I have a question. It seems the state police chiefs assoc and the indiana fop both oppose the bill but I saw several sheriffs speak in support. Why the disconnect between local and county agencies? Are Sheriff's deputies not members of the fop?

Excellent question Nick. The pro HB 1369 Sheriffs were speaking as the Sheriff of their County. Indiana Sheriff's Association is officially neutral. Police Chiefs are appointed and the antis were from where you'd expect.

I'll get my notes plugged in tomorrow evening. It was after 2000 before I got home.

I can't say it enough, we outnumbered the antis!!

I loved it when Jim Lucas had to ask one LEO to clarify if he did or did not support the bill. Luckily he did.

Went through two other bills, I set through them so you don't have to :D

    On to HB 1369:
Chairman Ben Smaltz was the author so Vice Chair Peggy Mayfield had the gavel. She called opposing/supporting/opposing/supporting. This is how I knew we outnumbered them, the last 6 to testify were PRO-2A!!

Below is from my scribbled, hieroglyphic-like notes and is more of what I thought at the time than anything else.

Rep Smaltz introduced the bill, funding to LE from everyone, not just LTCHers in making up the shortfall.

    Doug Carter: ISP Superintendent (opposed)
    - Support 2A BUT
    - Mis-id'd the Laird Law
    - Law abiding people obey the law (duh!)
    - Compared OWI to LTCH, WTF?
    - Invoked George Floyd, WTF?
    - Rep Smaltz hit him on Sheriff's Assoc and ISP Assoc being neutral
    - Rep Lehman reversed the "protect the Cops" mantra from Carter with "what about us?"
    - Jim Lucas hit him on the Pinner case

Bradley Rogers, former Sheriff of Elkhart County and current County Commissioner (Support)
    - Undue burden for a right we already have
    - We expect citizens to be armed and not criminals
    - LEO arrive: the situation is over

Chief Flannelly Lafayette PD/ Chiefs Assoc (Oppose)
    - BUTTER
    - Blamed the pizza delivery driver who was shot in robbery for getting shot WTF?
    - Stated he wouldn't have issued half the LTCHs he did if he had the choice
    - Rep Smaltz SMOKED him with FBI data/this guy was talking opinion on officer safety
    - Jim Lucas: "Do felons carry guns? Without a license?"

Tamara Watson retired ISP Trooper, firearms instructor (Support)
    - This does nothing to harm LEO
    - LTCH is about managing the law-abiding
    - Worked undercover for three years, went straight at Doug Carter with, "All the felons I met working undercover had guns!"

She was really good, I hope they get the rest of the video up. More to follow...

Appreciated. Also appreciated your comments to the committee and you taking the time to be there. I've really been trying to be more active in contacting my legislators and giving as I can to 2A groups this year.

Chief Deikhoff (I had it much less politely spelled in my notes) Bloomington PD (oppose)
    - ANTI GUN (no ****)
    - No kidding, that's all I wrote

Sheriff Quakenbush Hamilton County (support) 33:41 on video
    - Duty to protect individual liberties
    - Government should not be your Plan A to protect yourself

    Floyd Merchant FOP (Oppose)
    - NOT A LEO
    - Officer safety but never explains how
    - Jim Lucas asked him about felons and the low prosecution rate for false statements on 4473, this guy doesn't know what a 4473 is!!

Jim Raush Martin County Sheriff (support) 43:10 on video
    - Chicago example for gun control not working
    - LTCH punishes the law abiding, not criminals
    - LTCH taxes to fund LEO
    - Permits to exercise Bill of Rights examples with 1st and 4th Amendments

Jodi ****ing Madera (I wrote that on my notes...) IU Law Professor (oppose) 49:20 on video
    - Narcissistic as usual
    - Peer reviewed = people who act and think like you
    - BS on % on LTCH denials: 71% increase pales in comparison to 121% increase in LTCH holders
    - BS on Missouri post ConC: take out St Louis and what do you have!??
    - More suicides? You don't need a handgun license to commit suicide!!
    - Strawman: all laws are anti-2A? Who says this??
    - Jim Lucas said several times to slow down, just throwing crap out there
    - Voice is more annoying than I remember, like an ice-pick in the ear

Public Defender Council (two of them) had issues with felonies spelled out in the bill. 58:05 on video
    - Don't like USC 18 Sec 922 (federal prohibited possessors) law
    - Wouldn't want this one for my attorney
    - Public Defenders don't like felonies
    - ZZzzzzzzzz... turned around, Guy is playing Candy Crush or something
    - BORRRRRING!!!

Rick Meyer Jackson County Sheriff (support) 1:09:30 on video
    - POWERFUL! Shot in the line of duty in 2014 and supports Constitutional Carry
    - Bad people do bad things
