Just out of curiosity, of those who shoot their .22lr out of a long gun, what is the maximum distance that you can accurately shoot. This past weekend, a friend and myself, were both shooting our 22's accompanied by two friends, one with a .17hmr and the other a .17mach2, we set up 25 cans of old skunked beer(we shook them up first) at 215 yards. After finding out where my bullet was hitting that far out we began to hit the cans one by one... first started shooting in the prone position, then moved to sitting. Its pretty funny when two guys with .22s at 215yds can beat those shooting .17s!

Mine gets inconsistent past 300yds. The wind is a huge factor with the 22lr, doesn't take much to toss them around pretty badly past 100yds.

i have and do shoot mine out to 300. my best shot is a black bird on a first round hit @ 230ish. i layed down dialed elevation (wich i knew from prior days shooting) judged the wind and shot.

a 22 (or any rimfire) at 200+yds is great pratice. if you miss a wind gust ust a little you miss by alot

For me there isn't anymore fun than pushing the .22 at long ranges. My favorite thing to do is set up empty shotgun shells at extended ranges and bouncing them around.

I have a scope with a reticle graduated for the 22 LR, and I routinely get 175 to 200 yard kills on prairie dogs; my longest is 235 yards. It is not spectacular as with the .223, but with the Volquartsen I can get as many follow-up shots as necessary to insure the kill.

we had a slight bit of wind, but you can certainly tell that the wind plays a huge factor. Its a heck of a good time especially to shoot and have time to relax before you watch whatever your shooting move, in our case we could shoot and there would be a split second before the cans would explode. How high would you say that you are aiming at around 300 yards?

I can keep rounds on a 66% IPSC target at 350 if I do my part. 300 and less with winds under 10mph is cake these days. I am looking at getting a .22WMR and pushing that now.

Pop and I walked 'em in on groundhogs at right about 225 yds when he first bought his place. Not sure we were hitting or getting penetration till we started finding carcasses two and three days later. Not a very ethical kill, so we discontinued the practice.
