I have several reloading books and the all list the same powders just in different orders. I am looking for a recommendation of a good general powder that works at most any temperature hot or cold outside. I have used H110, 422?, Unique and etc.

I shoot cast 210 gr to 250 gr. Do't know about speed, just don't want to shoot a round that hurts anymore. Been using 8 gr of Unique.

If you are looking for down loaded cast bullet target loads, Hodgdon lists a 882 fps load using TiteGroup powder under a 215 cast bullet.

I have not tried them in .41 Mag, but I shoot a similar TiteGroup load in the .44 handgun for target work.

If I want to be polite - 8.0gns of CFE pistol under a 215gn Trooper cast. Nice plinking load. More of a 44 special +P.

For full house - 21.8gns of H110 under a 210 XTP. That will hammer some steel. It's unpleasantly stout in a model 57 and shoots really well from a Henry 41 Mag lever.

H110 is not temperature stable though, so it really pushes back on hot days.

Since I used to hunt Elk with the Hornady 300gr XTP bullet, I used a bunch of W296/H110 powder for those rounds and 2400 for everything else.

Except plinkers. Then I used a generic 240gr LSWC bullet and W231 powder.

You should try 300MP. Greencastle has it.

I ran AA9 or WW 296 in my .44 mags. 180gr maxed out.

Odd, i thought in cold weather they kicked harder.
Maybe temps affected my hands more than the ammo.

Dunno, accuracy was great. Blast was beyond annoying. Flame cut of topstrap only went so far
Forcing cone wear.....if aggressive, was of no concern. Shoot that much and the cost in ammo way more than screwing on a new barrel.

I just consider it the cost of having fun.

IMHO living costs a few bucks. So I dont worry about wear and tear on equipment.

I dont shoot reduced loads or lead so dunno what powders would be good for those
.357 and .44 are run w mags and jacketed, all the time

If I want lesser I drop to .22lr.

Never been a fan of the middle stuff. And gave up plinking/ target shooting a long time ago.
    So practice w hunting stuff.
