Recommendations for a 45ACP double action full size handgun. I want to buy a 45acp handgun but want a double action. I like 1911's but prefer a double action. Any recommendations?

There are literally dozens of reliable 45 acp firearms being manufactured today - not to be a vast number of out of production models that are still very good. Like a SW 4506.

If you like the 1911s, you could always try to find a Para LDA or a Colt Double Eagle.

If you can find one I have a Ruger P90DC SS that is rock solid reliable. Bought it for BYOG deployments in the military.

CZ 97 or Tanfoglio Witness (CZ Clone) both are out of production but can be found easily. Tamfoglio has a new line up of pistols similar to the Witness that have a good rep. I find I shoot my 97 more than my 1911

I carried an Sig 220 45 in my Municipal PD days and time with the US Marshals service as a contract guard really love them. And tell folks they can’t go wrong. I was also found of the S&W 4566 TSW however good luck finding one.

A second one that often slips under radar is the HK 45 I run an HK 45 with an LEM trigger for my duty gun as a School Deputy. The LEM brings all the great benefits of a SA shoot ability with every shot but the safety of a traditional DA and no levers to decock

I’ve always wanted a SAR K2 because the slide in frame like the Cz97 and Tanfoglio. I have these and I like them both.

They still appear to be a good price.

My vote is for the P220. The P227 gives you 2 more rounds, but at the cost of a less comfortable grip, at least for my hands. YMMV.

H&K USP 45 or just the HK45 are fantastic handguns. Not much by way of optics ready but it is what it is.

Good luck I have a standard 5” 625 pre kick and they all are going for $$$ even the lock model as S&W discontinued the 625 the last couple years.

You can get an HK USP for just at or under a grand. I picked up my HL 45 LEM light for 650 BNIB

Oh, I don't know about that. Sure you can get a semi cheaper, but the smith's are reasonable

They have what appeared to be an M1917 Colt over at Bass and Bucks when I was there today. It was under a grand.

Were I to get a revolver in .45acp, I'd choose one of those.

There was a 625 Performance Center model that went for under $900 in a local auction recently. I almost bid on it, but I'm not into dealing with moon clips. If it had been .45 Colt I'd have probably made unwise decisions.
