It is just flat amazing what is going on in the South Bend area. Daily shootings. PD in scandal/lawsuit/leadership controversy. Don't see it getting better.

I grew up in South Bend and still have folks there. It just depresses me when I drive through town, see the decay, and remember when it was a better place. I haven't lived there in 30 years and it's like the city I knew picked up and moved 5 miles east, leaving the debris behind.

Suburbs are just annexed areas of people moving outward from city blight. Indiana people have been slowly moving east of Chicago for decades. When I first moved to Gary, it was a beautiful city. Then it was the migration east to East Gary, Portage, then Valparaiso. When I realized I was moving closer to South Bend, I decided to head south...

And people were upset when South Bend was named a dying city last year. I can't see it getting any better any time soon.

With the leadership they seem to prefer they are in the same downward spiral a lot of big cities find themselves in.
