    Just a heads up but outside of finding an olive oil barrel or something like that, food safe or food grade refers to the epoxy liner inside the barrel which you have to remove anyway to turn it into a smoker . I personally will never use an eproxy lined barrel to make a smoker because of the amount of work and hazard required to remove it. If you have a place that does oil changes on semi's near you, they will often have 55 gallon drums that lithium grease come in. The grease is inside a plastic bag which sits inside the barrel so it never actually touches the barrel. Those are my favorite ones to get and use. I still power wash them and burn them out, but it is nothing like having to take out an epoxy liner.
