A sad day

Today was a sad day when I realized that I didn't remember the words to the pledge...For those of you like me, I thought we should be reminded. My daughter recites this everyday at school and I think the rest of us should remember. I pledge Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all. ​

I've said it nearly 2,000 times in my life in school, scouts, 4-H, FFA, sports events, etc.

It really loses it's meaning when it is applied to everything.

"Under God" was added that year, IIRC. Red Skelton had some words concerning and defending that change, also IIRC.

It is the antithesis of patriotism.

some people always have to complain about someone complaining about someone else complaint.. and never stop complaining about a complaint. I've never understood so much complaining.

P.S. I think some of us younger people on here enjoy learning and seeing some of this stuff, as I was raised in da hood, and they teached me nothin'

It is becoming increasingly common for some school systems to take out the "Under God" part lest someone be offended. I am thankful that I live in a community that does not buy into it.

And when my kids were going to school in Bloomington, they said the school went one step further--by hardly ever reciting it at all.

So you're suggesting we should stop attempting to correct misconceptions?

If that's the case, then we should probably stop trying to tell people that an AR-15 isn't a machine gun and that a barrel shroud isn't a shoulder thing that goes up.
