Ok, i was going into NFA but i may have to move over the border into Hellinois for work...so im selling a few toys and have been looking at the SCAR-L and the ACR. i know they have some differences but does any one have experience with these to push me one way or the other? Ive handled both and like both...but have not had the chance to shoot either.
Any of the swap parts out there for calibre or barrel changes for both?
Is one or the other not/worth the money. SCAR seems to run about a grand higher than the ACR. Anything in particular make it worth the extra $$$?
    Let me know.

The ACR has quick change barrels in 7.62x39 and 6.8, but they have yet to be released. Supposedly they are having teething problems. With that being said, I would still lean towards an ACR. I had a chance to buy one a while back for $1500, but I declined. Sort of regretting that one. :(

I have the SCAR 16, so that should tell you how I feel. I have heard that MAGPUL was actually kinda disgusted with what they did to the ACR, but I cannot remember where I had read that, so I might be mistaken. If you are in the Winamac area on Sunday, we will have the NWI Meet and Shoot, and I will have my SCAR out there, you are more then welcome to come and put some rounds down range and see if you like it. I do not have an ACR to compare it to.
As Sig1473 said, they have said a couple things that are supposed to come out for it, but its still having a lot of problems with all that they are doing. The SCAR, they have about 80% part commonality, so you can use those IF you get them both. Or you can always do some swapping. As I have never done that, I do not know how it is, or how difficult that it is, but i do know that there are some that have been swapped in the military, so take that for what its worth.
Here is a review of it, take it for what its worth. And like I said, you are more then welcome to test fire mine sometime.

    Been waiting for awhile now.

I have no confidence in Bushmaster/Remington.

For transparentcy's sake I'll put it out there that I'm a SCAR owner.

You have one of the other SCARs that are out at the meet and shoots? I know I have had mine out since March at least when I started going.

Agree with the no confidence in Bushmaster, since they have been bought out, they have went DOWNHILL fast. Very sad what happened there.

Yeah, the quick change barrel was the only thing that made me lean towards the ACR but who the hell knows when that will happen. Ponying up the extra $600 for the SCAR16s is probably worth it:twocents:

Where you looking? the SCARs that I have seen are a bit cheaper then the ACRs that I have seen around here. Not much, but a couple two/three hundred. Guess different areas, different prices. I know I shopped around when I got my SCAR, but its been about a year now, so they were abit more expensive. Hopefully, like the AR families, they will go down when they start selling more

I can get an ACR for around $1900 while a SCAR is running around $2500.

WOW, I am impressed. I wasn't trying to call you out. The ones around this area was a SCAR for around 2500 (was the price that I got on my SCAR) and about 2800 for an ACR. That is impressive. Hey, :rockwoot:

Where I am, the SCAR16s is about $400 more than the ACR with both being special order. I have a SCAR17s and it is a very nice reliable rifle with light weight and low recoil. The only thing I don't like about it (other than the cost) is the folding stock which would be the same as on the 16s. I was looking to add another 5.56 rifle to the stable and after much research, concluded that both the ACR and the SCAR16s were way overpriced for what they were. I ended up purchasing a SIG556 for much less than the cost of a SCAR16s or ACR.

Ive handled both, never shot an ACR but the controls and I didnt get along. The ambi safety would rub my trigger finger and I didnt care for the charging handle.

    I now own a SCAR-16s and a half-dozen Magpul E-mags (not P-mags, P-mags are not recomended for the SCAR-16s) and I love it.

Still if I was gonna do it over agiain, for the money I would just get a Noveske AR. For a few reasons but mainly bc the aftermarket is almost infinate for the AR platform. I still want to add a good DI AR (probably a DD) to my safe in the future.

Thanx for the reply guys. Simply nuts what they want for them. i have several AR15's both DI and piston. Im bored with them and want something different to play with. Im still shopping best price...but i think i may try to track down an E4 MSAR instead. The prices on these 2 are jumping up a little more now.
