Obama wants Afghan war over in 3 years, officials say - CNN.com"Washington (CNN) -- President Obama intends to conclude the Afghanistan war and withdraw most U.S. troops within three years, according to senior administration officials."

Now where have I seen something like that before. Oh, yes:

"You will see for yourself, soon enough. The high commander of the army, Lord Harsha, has decreed that Ranapur will fall today. The Emperor himself has come out to observe the conquest of the rebel city. You have been invited to watch the crushing of the rebellion from the Emperor's own pavilion. I have been instructed to escort you there."
"Ah," said Belisarius. Since they had arrived at Ranapur, the Roman delegation had been studiously ignored by the emperor and his entourage. Even Venandakatra had not sent so much as a formal note. The diplomatic discourtesy, Belisarius was certain, was calculated to impress upon the Romans their humble place in the Malwa scheme of things. He was equally certain that the sudden invitation to share the emperor's august presence was calculated to impress the foreigners with the Malwa empire's might and ruthlessness.
There was no point in lodging a protest against this shameful treatment. Certainly not to Rana Sanga, who was himself consigned to the periphery of the Malwa court. (Except, Belisarius suspected, when the clash of arms required the Rajput's skill.)
But—where protest would be futile, irony would be at least entertaining. Belisarius frowned, deep in thought, and allowed his jaw to gape with wonder.
"Such a brilliant stratagem! To conclude a siege by simply decreeing it at an end! I confess with shame that I never thought of it myself, despite the many sieges I have undertaken."
Sanga barked harsh laughter. "Neither have I!" he exclaimed. The Rajput's foul humor seemed to vanish. He reined his horse around, and began moving away. "Come, Belisarius," he said over his shoulder, cheerfully. "Let us observe a military genius at work."

In 3 years......close to election time.....hmmm. Guess he just wants to take credit for it since his other policies so far wouldnt get him re-elected. Pathetically selfish. I hope most people realize its the soldiers who in the end win the war not the politicians.

3 years just happens to be around next presidental election time-frame. Nice.
I'm sure the Taliban and Al-Quedia now can update their training manuals and teach that they only have to hold on for another 3 years & they win since the US will be taking their game home after that. Coach I6BO says so. :faint:

That country is so split there is no way anyone can convince all the groups to stop killing each other. Hate to say it, but the only idea that comes close to working (in my opinion) is for the politicians to say, "Here are a bunch of soldiers, here are a bunch of guns, clean up that country." Then the politicians turn there backs and wait for the tap on the shoulder saying it's done. Every war ran by politicians is regulated by them. Yes, other countries would be mad at us for tossing the rules of engagement manual out the window, even though our enemies don't have a manual to begin with. They freely kill those who don't want to follow their religion, but our guys & gals can't kill those who want them dead.

I've been worked up over this for a while, especially after reading the book Ghost Wars Amazon.com: Ghost Wars: The Secret History of the CIA, Afghanistan, and Bin Laden, from the Soviet Invasion to September 10, 2001 (9781594200076): Steve Coll: Books a couple times. Didn't help I heard Obama's speech about this is going to interfere with Charlie Brown Christmas, even though I'll be watching the Blackhawks.

WHAT?!?! I'm going to miss Charlie Brown because this retard thinks he can win an unwinnable war?!?!? Now if he were to say that we were withdrawing our troops to drop Fat Man and Little Boy over there, then that would be worth it. But for this? :xmad: I'd rather watch something that makes sense instead of a bumbling idiot that doesn't know :poop:
