I've been building a counterfeit trench gun (another thread I posted a few days ago). Just got a repo M1907 leather garand sling for it that I want to soften and age to match the rest of the well worn project. Looking for recommendations from someone who has done it. I can google and watch youtube for ways, but would rather have someone who has done that to a sling chime in personally if anyone out there has done it.

    Thanks!

Get someone to save you a bit of tobacco ash....
    buy some neatsfoot oil.....
mix and rub after going over the sling with some sandpaper of various grits...

go out to your dirty charcoal grill with some gloves and get some grease and get to work....

    wipe on...wipe off....

I've been aging guns for reenacting for nigh on 30 years.....you'll do great....sandpaper a bit on the high spots first....
