I Snopes'd it, and initially got the warning from a very trusted source. What does it matter if it is not real? Be Safe::

HUGE VIRUS COMING ! PLEASE READ
checked with Norton Anti-Virus, and they are gearing up for this virus!
I checked Snopes, 2000hrs, 2/17/2010, and it is for real. Get this E-mail message sent around to all your contacts ASAP.

PLEASE FORWARD THIS WARNING AMONG YOUR CONTACTS!

You should be alert during the next few days.
Do not open any message with an attachment entitled
    'POSTCARD FROM HALLMARK'
regardless of who sent it to you. It is a virus
which opens A POSTCARD IMAGE, which 'burns'
the whole hard disc C drive of your computer.

This virus will be received from someone who has your e-mail address on a contact list. That is the reason why you need to send this e-mail to all YOUR contacts. It is better to receive this message 25 times falsely, than to receive the virus ONCE and open it!

I got that email 3 or 4 months ago, looked it up, and found THAT email several times in the past few years, verbatim.

While viruses are often distributed via e-mail, this one is not new. It's been "alerted" in almost the same form on almost a monthly basis since at least the beginning of 2008.

A quick Google turned up this post from Feb 2008:
Subject: VERY IMPORTANT - BIG VIRUS COMING!!! PLEASE READ & FORWARD !!!

snopes.com: 'Hallmark Postcard from a Family Member' virus

Hi All, I checked Snopes (URL above:), and it is for real!!

Get this E-mail message sent around to your contacts ASAP.

PLEASE FORWARD THIS WARNING AMONG FRIENDS, FAMILY AND CONTACTS!

On a related note, with 96% of all e-mail volume being either a virus or spam, if you're still opening e-mail attachments without scanning them thoroughly and being 100% sure of their source, in my opinion you're asking for it. It's like walking around downtown at 2AM on Condition Green.

I actually got one of these emails and opened it on an old computer just to see what it would do. I clicked the links, I browsed the bogus website, clicked every link...

    Know what I got?

2000 extra spam mails a day. :dunno:
