Went out with my boys to practice making fire with the ferro rod. I reached into the bag, grabbed the Altoid tin which contains my fire kit, opened it, and it was full of...mints. Oops. Be careful when you pack! :)

At least you will have fresh breath when you freeze to death.

I paint mine with flat gray primer paint. Then if you want, you can also write on the paint with a sharpie.

That goes for altoid of any shape and Velamint but the velamint are prized for a special application so they don't need paint.

Send $5 to me and I wll tell you.

Hint: Altoids tin does NOT fit in an Esbit stove.

Hint #2: Lots of people make alcohol stoves out of Altoid tins.

Hint #3; I often use perlite and bits of window screen in my potted plants

    Hint #4: Esbit stoves rock

    Hint #5: Alcohol burns hot

Hint #6: Velamint tins do fit in Esbit stoves

I seem to be the only person on earth that knows this, even though I have posted about it for 10 years in various places.

One of these is not like the others, also round altoid tins can be made into stoves as well.

I did these about ten years ago when I tested a TON of possible alcohol burners and recorded all the times and times to boil water in the MSR pot and saved in a spread sheet. Yeah, guess what that data mnay be gone but point is I went with the Velamint. I seem to recall a few minutes to boil, under 3 maybe? I don't remember how long a full stove burns, maybe 8-10 minutes? There are two mods not shown in the picture but I do have pics opf them, when I find them I will post. I am cleaning up and consolidating data, docs and pics from all over the place.
