I didn't know they made such a beast. Yeah 45 has made it in a number of odd guns, a few carbines, some SMGs, revolvers..I've shot 45 ACP in a variety of guns, but the Broomhandle has to be the odd ball of the lot.

But they do make a 50.

Interestingly, a few years ago I put together a Gen 4 Glock 21 to shoot .45 Super / .450SMC a few years ago and set it up to be an in-the-woods / hiking pistol. It's quite accurate and is a hoot-to-shoot, if one doesn't mind a tad bit of recoil. Mine is actually up for sale (not advertising) as I just don't shoot it much anymore...but for an outdoor hiking pistol, or just for plain fun, it's a great caliber! It lost a little of it's shine when I started playing with .45 Colt, though. And in my 'bad financial decisions' folder, I still have the desire to play with a .45 Super for no reason other than it sounds neat.
Well, it is a scientific fact that wielding a 1911 multiplies manliness by a factor of two. So maybe you are a wuss, except when holding the 1911?I decided long ago it was just easier and cheaper to stick to one-ish caliber for carry gun. Since I am a 1911 guy .45 has been the answer. I’ve never felt an all steel 1911 has much recoil personally. Maybe I’m just not as much of a wuss as the wife says I am?
I do love a good .45 Auto, and have been told by those who understand the physics better than I can approach that it's inherently more accurate than many other offerings. Not enough to make a difference in anything I'm doing, mind you, but it's there.

I have a 18" (?) 45 Colt insert for my sxs 12. Bought it off ebay45acp is not impractical, nor is it inefficient. There is no caliber that gets more downrange effect from 4 grains of Bullseye, than 45 acp.
I have two question for the thread:
1. OP...where did you score the chamber inserts? Briley? (You are fixing to get me in a HELL of a lot of trouble here).
