it is a model 1896 S&W .It is the 1st model hand ejector,The 1st solid frame model made by S&W
!st swing out cylinder design -note no thumb latch to open the cylinder . Just pull on the ejector rod to allow the cylinder to be swung to the side . Can't see in my picture but the cylinder locking bolt is mounted on the top strap and is operated by the hammer as it moves to the rear , a throw back to the earlier tip up pistols made by Smith & Wesson.
This gun was shipped 4/30/1897 to a Hardware store -gun shop in California owned by Phill Bekeart who later worked with S&W to design & manufacture the 22/32 H.F.T in 1910. The 22/32 is commonly called the Bekeart model.
