what's the gearing in the JL? 3.73 I'll assume. I've got 35s on my JKU and while it's drivable I'm planning to change to 4.56 or 4.88 this spring.

Should be 4:10s in the Rubicon.

@ the good Principle: you are going ALL IN!

I had a chance to crawl around in a JL Sport at the dealership in Browsnburg last week. They had an "unveiling" of sorts. Hardly anyone there. Well, other than 20+ staff. So very similar to the JK it replaced. Certainly not like the move from the TJ to JK previously. Some nice cosmetic changes (grab handles, doors, and such). Not that many major changes. Waiting to see how the axle disconnect fares (typically terrible), and if the aftermarket will address. I'm still researching some of the major changes, like the new 6-speed manual, the new Dana axle castings, the front axle disconnect, and new rollbar design.

I'm really torn on my next Jeep purchase. Do I jump on a JL now? Wait for the JT? Or, snag a good deal on a slightly used JK, once the trades start hitting the market?

4.10 gearing. Granny 1st gear, too. It won't have an issue, at all, pulling 35's. 84:1 crawl ratio with 33's. Even with 35's, it should be better than the stock JK Rubicon's crawl ratio. At worst, it would be the same.

No 3.73's in the Rubicon. 4.10's are standard on both the auto and manual, whether with the 3.6 or the 2.0.

The JL drives and rides so much better than the JK. It is improved in every way, including power. The transmissions are better matched and the V6 has improved torque between 1k and 3k. You can really feel it. One of the most surprising things about mine is how quick it is. I was shocked.

35's are on, and the 2" lift gets delivered tomorrow. The lift gets installed Tuesday. It drives really well with the 35's, with little power loss. The ride is still great and the handling is surprisingly good. It doesn' wander all over the road like other Jeeps I've driven with 35's. It tracks straight and true. The tires balanced easily, with few weights for such a large tire. (BFG KO2's, 315/70/17) The spare barely fit, but it is gtg. The tailgate hinges are twice as beefy as the JK.

I'd post pics, but again, somehow INGO says I'm at a limit, even though they are just linked and not hosted. I don't understand that.

Do you uncheck the box that says to "retrieve remote file and reference locally"? I haven't tested it as I always uncheck the box, but I suspect if you don't it puts a copy of the file in your album or attachments folder and counts against your 5mb quota. You should be able to go to UserCP and look at attachments and see what is in there and clear them out.

That is one fine looking JL!

Thanks! I'll post up more in a few days. The 2" lift gets installed Tuesday! Can't wait! Then, I'll be looking for a springtime opportunity to get her off-road and see what she'll do! The first gear, in 4 low, even with the 35's, is simply unbelievable. Makes 1st/low in my JK feel like overdrive!

Dropped it off at Westgate Jeep today to have the lift installed. It is on and they told me it looks GREAT. Their alignment tech went home early, so they are keeping it overnight. They'll have it ready sometime mid morning. I can't wait to see it. Here are some "before" pics from when I dropped it off, with the 35's and no lift.

It isn't all bad that I have to spend a night without my Red Rubi...they gave me this to drive until it is done! 2017 JK with 4" lift and 35's.

Dang, I like the loaner!!!! I'd probably get a mini-van to drive home.....but that's our little dealer here.

I wasn't even expecting a mini van! Just a ride to work. These guys have just taken great care of me, and they've done it for a decade. Here is the JLUR on the lift kit! I picked it up this afternoon. The ride is REALLY nice. I thought it would be stiff with those Fox shocks, but it is smooth as silk, but very well controlled. I couldn't be happier!

    now you need bigger tires.

I could be wrong, but I read somewhere if you have a Jeep in a dealer shop, the dealer is supposed to give you another Wrangler. That might be bad information but I read that at some point.

Nope, tires are perfect. They will not rub anything at full articulation. 37's will slightly rub with this lift. Also, it wasn't in for warranty work. It was in for accessory installation. I didn't even buy the lift kit there. As for warranty, there is no specification as to what they give you. It could be a mini van, if that's what they have. To give me a built Wrangler was pure gravy.

If I went bigger on the tires, say 37's, I'd need at least a 2.5" lift, and maybe a 3", to get no rubbing at full articulation. I'd probably re-gear for 37's, too. As-is, with 4.10 gears and the short ratio 1st gear are perfect.

    That looks fantastic. Well done!

Our JK is in the shop for an oil leak. Appears to be the plastic oil filter housing. Had an appointment Thursday first thing, and they (Estes) hasn't even look at it yet. I'm a bit miffed. Should have gone to Westgate. Might have caught a glimpse of your JL!
